IK Trax develops new tri sensor Pig signaller

That’s why IK Trax has developed their new magnetic, acoustic and electromagnetic pig detection signaller; TriSigTM.

IK Trax, a leading designer and manufacturer of pipeline pig locating and signalling equipment and advanced pipeline data logging and testing systems, has developed the signaller based on global market demand and following customer feedback.

TriSig™ is an ATEX and IECEx compliant, non-intrusive, PSU powered pig signaller which quickly and accurately detects, signals and logs the passage of pigs at critical points along a pipeline both onshore and offshore.

The three detection methods removes any uncertainty over confirmation of pig passage as acoustic sensors monitor the vibrational and acoustic noise produced as a pig moves through a pipeline while magnetic sensors detect changes in the magnetic field generated as a pig fitted with magnets moves through a pipeline. In addition, magnetic sensors can detect electromagnetic signals emitted by a transmitting pig as it passes through a pipeline.

The events are then signalled as they occur via a number of communication methods including a high brightness LED positioned on top of the signaller, Bluetooth and RS485 Modbus RTU bi-directional communication.

The unit logs the time and date of up to 99 events and these logged events can be viewed remotely over several optional interfaces.

Compatible with all pipeline mediums, TriSigTM is suitable for all pig types and dedicated software enables real-time monitoring and instant readings via Bluetooth connectivity to your phone, tablet or PC, making debugging and testing more efficient while providing a deeper under-standing of the theory of operation.
